Workshops

The workshops are taking place on May 22nd. Each workshop is a full-day event available for the on-site attendees. We promise a very practical, hands-on learning experience provided by React Native and Expo maintainers!

Accelerating Development and Distribution Workflows with Expo

In this workshop, we’ll dive into some of the newer advancements that help you build React Native apps faster and more efficiently.

Discover the potential of Continuous Native Generation: we will convert an existing React Native project to use Prebuild. This means you can generate the native iOS and Android directories dynamically (never have to check them into Git again).

Save time on boring and repetitive tasks: automate your work with config plugins (and learn to write your own!) and GitHub actions.

Learn about Expo’s Open Source tooling: Expo Orbit, Expo Doctor and the EAS CLI, and how they can fit into your workflow (even if you’re not able or don’t want to use EAS itself).

Expo Router

With Expo Router, you can express complex navigation patterns as files and folders inside your application code. Features that were easy to set up on web apps but often required painstaking boilerplate code on mobile, such as deep linking, now work great out-of-the-box on all platforms.

Let’s explore how Expo Router can keep up with the demands of sophisticated modern apps by implementing progressively-more-challenging navigation-related features inspired by real apps. In our demonstration app we’ll build dynamic routes, authentication, multi-page onboarding wizards, bottom sheets, lightboxes, large-screen experiences, and more.

Come away with your navigation-muscle-memory well-exercised and ready to take on whatever routing-related challenges users and designers can throw your way with Expo Router’s powerful and expressive file-based routing.

Reanimated

Great interactions are a key-feature of many applications. In fact, they can be the ‘make it or break it’ of your app’s success. Also, well-made gestures and animations are a powerful branding element that keep the users coming back.

This workshop is your ticket to becoming a Reanimated pro. You’ll dive deep into the concepts like: shared values, interpolation, easings, gestures, Layout Animations, and Shared Element Transitions.By the end, you’ll have the skills to create animations that’ll make your users say, “Wow!”

Debugging, profiling and optimization of React Native apps - the 2024 edition

Join our in-depth workshops on debugging, profiling and optimization of React Native apps and gain the skills to identify bottlenecks, improve performance and enhance the overall user experience of your apps.

We will take you through a hands-on journey of various developer tools, debuggers and profilers as well as how to use them effectively to optimize both JS and native code.

During the workshops, you will have the opportunity to troubleshoot and fix issues in real-world examples, learn how to effectively use third-party libraries to achieve seamless performance as well as receive recommendations on best practices for optimizing your React Native apps.

This workshop is ideal for app developers and maintainers who are already familiar with React Native and are seeking solutions to improve their product.
